[Napkin Pirates] Napkin Pirates Sports Network Warming Up

Posted in pirates with tags on March 27, 2008 by napkinpirate

NCAA Basketball Heats Up like “Orange Pearl”, our Napkin Pirates coach of the nightWell fellow Napkin Pirates, it is Thursday and time for NCAA basketball. Up first we have Xavier vs. West Virginia whose coach just happens to be our white trash friend that coached at K-State. I must say that I will never forget the black tux vest he wore last year at the Braumlage Blackout game.  The official Napkin Pirates Inc. bracket has Xavier taking this one. They have a better team, a better fight, and the Pirates have them going to the Final Four. Soon following is Washington State vs. North Carolina. The official Napkin Pirates Inc. bracket calls for an N.C. win. Wouldn’t it be great though to see the “Baby Blue” fall? It just won’t happen though. What Roy wants, Roy gets. Also, Roy, you will never recieve membership into the Napkin Pirates. We don’t like you anymore. Our third game of the night is Western Kentucky vs. UCLA. The old Pirates bracket is calling for a Bruin victory but as of late I think this W.K. is something to fear. Something about them screams George Mason. I like them, who knows, they may become the napkin pirates team of the week.  Fourth game of the night will feature Tennesse vs. Louisville. This will be the battle royale. I can not wait to see this cross-state rivalry showdown. The official Napkin Pirates bracket has Tennessee winning this one.  I can honestly say I do not know who will take this one home tonight. My gut pirate instinct says Tennesee. On the other hand, I would like to see Louisville advance so Padgett could get a little taste of what he could of had at Kansas. We got a good night ahead of us and it keeps our little pirates minds off of waiting for tommorrow night’s game.  To my napkin pirates, enjoy the games, say your Jayhawk prayers tonight and stay tuned NPSN.

[Napkin Pirates] Napkin Pirates Inc. Going Global, Again!

Posted in pirates with tags on March 26, 2008 by napkinpirate

This weekend I went and checked out the new Power & Light district in downtown KC. It was great and all and the other napkin pirates and I commenced to drinking as much rum as possible. During this, I was fortunate enough to run into an old friend from my time overseas. What was not fortunate though was the news that my old Army unit is heading back to Iraq in one month.  It was such horrible news and ruined my night since I still have many friends in my old unit.  Nearly four years ago when my fellow napkin pirates and I returned from our year long piracy campaign in the Middle East I figured we would focus our napkin pirates crusade on the continental U.S. It seems that Uncle Sam has other plans. By my luck of discharge I will not be returning with the rest of my fellow pirates, however, I will be traveling with them in spirit.  I am not sure what their military objective will be this time around but I know that I will be setting an agenda for the napkin pirates once they have landed. Our global napkin pirate presence has been broken for the last four years, now it seems we shall wrap our hands across the world once again. It has long since been a focal point for Napkin Pirates Inc. to expand into commodities such as oil, so that we can pay for the site. Besides killing insurgents, terrorizing civilians, and being Bush’es henchman, I hope that our napkin pirate soldiers will have time to create a solid presence once again.  Until we rule the world I wish all our departing napkin pirate soldiers in the 129th the best of luck. Keep your head down and come home safely.

[Napkin Pirates] Napkin Pirates Inc. Celebrates Second Round Win for Jayhawks

Posted in pirates with tags on March 24, 2008 by napkinpirate

Mario Chalmers is the Napkin Pirates Jayhawk of the week.Napkin Pirates, let us celebrate, for we are again headed to the Sweet 16. For those of you who were not stuck to the tube this weekend, you missed out on some great basketball games. Most importantly, our favorite napkin pirates the Jayhawks plundered the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels. I will admit that I was nervous going into the game and after the cold first few minutes. Regradless, the Jayhawks found their heat and gave us a great game. Might I add a big hooray from your fellow napkin pirates.

In other NCAA tourney coverage watched by our pirate correspondents this weekend we must cover the upsets. Michigan St. toppled Pitt, Connecticut lost to San Diego, and Duke, Vanderbilt and Georgetown were defeated.  There were other upsets but they were not as surprising as the Georgetown and Connecticut losses. I guess that is why they call it March Madness, anything can happen. I wasn’t surprised by Duke, they have had a real timid showing the last few games and sometimes your school name doesn’t pull the win off for you. Also, I hate Duke and if you wanted to ever become napkin pirates you would be declined membership. Our pirate Jayhawks don’t nearly lose to a 15th seed in the first round and then lose to trashy Huggins in the second. Napkin Pirates, we must digress, sorry I had to get that out of my system. Back to basketball, I was surprised by Georgetown, I thought they would see an Elite Eight invite.

As we now look forward to next weekends games I do have some worries. Even though the official napkin pirates tourney bracket shows Tennessee making the Final Four I am a little worried about them. At their caliber they should have stomped their past two opponents. This was not the case though as they has several pirates on the edge of their seat this weekend. Another look at the offficial napkin pirate bracket reveals that all Elite Eight teams are still in the hunt for the title. While the us pirates did take some bracket hits this weekend it is good to know that the future still looks bright.

As we move forward through the week we now look forward to our favorite napkin pirates playing against Villanova on Friday night at 8:40 (CST). Until then, pirate on, and make sure to pester those Wildcat fans as they sulk over their loss to Wisconsin.

[Napkin Pirates] Napkin Pirates Inc. Celebrates 5 Long Years in Iraq

Posted in Pirate, pirates with tags on March 17, 2008 by napkinpirate

J.McCoy, the first Napkin Pirates soldierWell, fellow Napkin Pirates,  here we are five years later. Napkin Pirates Inc. would like to observe the five year birthday of the oil war in Iraq. That’s right pirates, five long years that we have been storming the sands in the bible land. We want to take this opportunity to recognize the feats of those who has served in this land and to those who have fallen. We at Napkin Pirates Inc. want everyone to know that we support the troops but not the war. Nonetheless, The war has played a pivotal role in the globalization of Napkin Pirates Inc. It has been five years now since we introduced pirating to the liberated people of Iraq. The founder of Napkin Pirates Inc. was in fact the first napkin pirate to step foot on Iraqi soil, intent on creating a presence, quelling the insurgency, and recruiting new members into our organization. While at first Napkin Pirates objectives were to ransack and plunder, we stepped back from our pirate instincts to further mold communities towards accepting our way of life. We succeeded there, we spread the message in Germany, Kuwait, and Iraq.  We took from the land, we policed the land, and ultimately left an impression with the iraqi people that the napkin pirate were a group who meant business but who could also be admired.  It has now been almost four years since we have had a pirate representative in the Middle East. We would love to have volunteers come forward and offer to serve in this region. With this, Napkin Pirates Inc. would like to support all the troops and future napkin pirates in Iraq.

[Napkin Pirates] Napkin Pirates Fun Fact of the Week

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on March 12, 2008 by napkinpirate

Napkin Pirates, I know it has been a week since I provided a fun fact so here you go!  The word “buccaneer” comes from boucan, meat prepared in a manner similar to modern barbeque.  Pirates were in the habit of going onto Hispaniola and other islands, killing semi-wild cattle and boars and cooking the meat over an open flame. They often used the meat to barter with ships seeking provisions.

[Napkin Pirates] Napkin Pirates Inc. Now In Squidoo!

Posted in pirates with tags on March 10, 2008 by napkinpirate

Napkin Pirates, I wanted to make sure that everyone knew we now have an official Napkin Pirates lens on Squidoo. While this site is the official home of all pirate news, our napkin pirates squidoo lens allows all you pirates another outlet for news and current activities online. Currently, our lens provides pirate accessories for sale on Amazon, current blog posts around the internet that relate to napkin pirates and a collection of Flickr photos pertaining to pirates.  I noticed that another napkin pirate, J. “Jimmy Snacks” Barrett out of KC, has created another lens for us, thanks Jimmy for helping to spread our message.

[Napkin Pirates] Napkin Pirates Mission Statement

Posted in pirates with tags on March 6, 2008 by napkinpirate

Napkin Pirates, I did not expect to have to express the mission of napkin pirates but since I never set actual goals and ground rules, now is the time for me to do that. I figured that most individuals who came to the site and wanted membership into a time honored tradition would have the intelligence and decency to not break obvious rules.

The mission of Napkin Pirates Inc. is to provide “napkin pirates” with a social platform which will provide fellowship as well as networking opportunities. I wanted to give a voice to fellow pirates who over time have seen their way of life become abandoned, forgotten, and left to rot as the advent of technology created new opportunties. I decided that I would couple our heritage with a medium of new technology so that I could create better pirates.  The world needs a resurgence of piracy. I look out into a sea of punk kids today who show no potential, these youth can be future pirates. We must make them napkin pirates, and mold them into great pirates, just as our elders did with us.

The blogosphere is the new vehicle for human interaction these days.  People vent, collect perspectives, and read news through this interactive meduim. The Napkin Pirates blog will serve as a pulpit to convey a message.  This message will attract those who want to learn to be a pirate, and at that a better pirate. This blog will show pirates how to attain the comradery not felt since the days of pirate shipmates. Where once pirates only had a ship as a vehicle to travel and plunder, today, we have our blog as a vehicle.

Napkin Pirates, we have our history, we have our connection, we have our message.

Now that everyone knows our purpose as napkin pirates I will further address common rules of the Napkin Pirates, fortunately there are only two.  When commenting to me on a post I shall me addressed as Captain.  I founded the Napkin Pirates, the least you can do is show me respect. I say this as many have commented on posts with inmature emoticons and spammy comments. Commenting is a means of building a bond between napkin pirates, do not abuse it. Second, history, perspective, and news are provided for your benefit. These posts are to be spread. Blackbeard didn’t sit around the same bay and rob the same ship. He built a legacy on fear. He moved around building his presence amongst the waters of the Atlantic. Napkin Pirates, this is your mission as well. Each pirate should build a fearsome reputation by spreading your presence throughout the web. These rules are simple and are expected to be followed by all napkin pirates.
