J.McCoy, the first Napkin Pirates soldierWell, fellow Napkin Pirates,  here we are five years later. Napkin Pirates Inc. would like to observe the five year birthday of the oil war in Iraq. That’s right pirates, five long years that we have been storming the sands in the bible land. We want to take this opportunity to recognize the feats of those who has served in this land and to those who have fallen. We at Napkin Pirates Inc. want everyone to know that we support the troops but not the war. Nonetheless, The war has played a pivotal role in the globalization of Napkin Pirates Inc. It has been five years now since we introduced pirating to the liberated people of Iraq. The founder of Napkin Pirates Inc. was in fact the first napkin pirate to step foot on Iraqi soil, intent on creating a presence, quelling the insurgency, and recruiting new members into our organization. While at first Napkin Pirates objectives were to ransack and plunder, we stepped back from our pirate instincts to further mold communities towards accepting our way of life. We succeeded there, we spread the message in Germany, Kuwait, and Iraq.  We took from the land, we policed the land, and ultimately left an impression with the iraqi people that the napkin pirate were a group who meant business but who could also be admired.  It has now been almost four years since we have had a pirate representative in the Middle East. We would love to have volunteers come forward and offer to serve in this region. With this, Napkin Pirates Inc. would like to support all the troops and future napkin pirates in Iraq.

Each pirate received an equal share of the booty, with a double share going to the captain, the pilot, the carpenter, the cook, and a share set aside for the maintenance of the ship. Most pirates were paid four times as much as they had ever received as merchant or naval men. However, if no plunder was captured, no one would be paid.

Articles of clothing were acquired from plundering ships. Pirates often wore some very odd costumes because of this. But no pirate would be caught wearing “slops” – the striped shirt worn by British sailors. Bet you didn’t know that one.
