Napkin pirates, for those of you who watched the Kansas/Davidson game tonight, you received a royal treat. It has been a long time since I have seen a game that intense. Defense of both sides was that of a napkin pirates invasion. The Napkin Pirates Player of the game was Mario Chalmers who rang three point shots without hesitation. His first half points were the key element of what kept Kansas in the game. Napkin pirates as well as everyone should stay tuned as further sports coverage is sure to follow. Napkin Pirates, it is Saturday, we are still rejoicing in yesterday’s victory, and yet are anxious for the outcome of tomorrow. I must first say that as a napkin pirate that is hard to impress, I was impressed last night by the Jayhawks. It has been a long time since I have seen a game start with that intensity and that many dunks in the first few minutes. Napkin pirates, glasses up to the Jayhawks.
The official Napkin Pirates Bracket took a hit tonight as Xavier fell to UCLA. I had so much hope in the Xavier team and tonight they completely fell apart. Us pirates sat around and watched the UC LA defense totally pick apart the Xavier offense. So far our bracket is not doing as good as we pirates have lost Tennessee and now Xavier for our Final Four picks.
I know I have do this but I do not want to . North Carolina won tonight. I had picked Tennessee over Louisville but lately I had faith in the later. The napkin pirates and I wanted nothing more than to see N.C. go down. We have waited a long time to see a Pargett-Hansborough match-up and Hansborough won. This means that if KU wins tomorrow, we will play N.C. next weekend. This might be hard for N.C. as they will have to stop playing Sweet 16 games in their own state. I guess we will call it an away game for them . Regradless of tonights winners, the tournament has been wonderful to watch. Napkin Pirates, keep celebrating the holiday season we now as March Madness.

Posted in pirates with tags napkin pirate, napkin pirates on March 29, 2008 by napkinpirateWe are victorious again. Hail to the Jayhawks all pirates. We have done it again. I hope all napkin pirates had a chance to watch the games tonight, especially the KU game. Like a vendetta driven napkin pirate out Jayhawks played a stellar game. I must admit the the first few minutes of the game, wicked dunks, three pointers, had this pirate on the edge of my seat. Stay tunes for official NPSN sports coverage.
Napkin Pirates Inc. | Pirates Pre-Game Analysis of Kansas and Villanova
Posted in pirates with tags napkin pirates on March 28, 2008 by napkinpirateNapkin Pirates, I know that all you Jayhawk fans are starting to get the jitters about the game tonight. I know, I am nervous too and want nothing more than a continued presence in the Big Dance. As we wait for the game the most we can do is size up the competition and see how are pirates should do.
Darrell Arthur vs. Dante Cunningham: While both of these boys do not look like centers they have the skill to get the job done. Arthur has really lived up to his hype this season, something that previously this napkin pirate didn’t believe in. Arthur is great at being aggressive around the goal, most often pressing the Defense and kicking the ball out. Arthur is a great asset who leads the team in scoring with 13.1 points per game. Keeping this figure up would likely give him the Napkin Pirates KU Player of the Year award. Villanova’s backup center, Casiem Drummond, now has a broken right ankle and is done son. This is a lucky break (no pun intended) for Kansas, but Arthur will still have to play solid to content with Cunningham.
Darnell Jackson vs. Antonio Pena: Jackson is a 250 pound Rotweiler when under the goal. He is absolutely amazing at intimidating and getting what he wants, rebounds. Jackson has won much pirate praise as he leads the team in rebounds with 6.7 per game. While Kaun is the slightly uglier twin brother for this position, Jackson has more fire under the hoop and I look to see napkin pirates everywhere applauding his performance tonight. Pena is 15 pounds lighter than Jackson, and lacks the drive and fire the Jackson displays. My pirate advice for him is to watch out because he may get stomped tonight. Brandon Rush vs. Dwayne Anderson: Most napkin pirates love one thing, three-pointers, oh wait, two, dunks. Rush and Anderson are likely to face a three-point shootout tonight. Anderson’s long shot is improving, Rush’s is perfected. Like Arthur, I used to not believe the hype about Rush. This pirates pessimism has been silenced as of recently as stellar playing has helped the Jayhawks to advance further. If there is a shootout between the two, I hope all my pirates are ready for a Rush three-point thunderstorm.
Mario Chalmers vs. Corey Stokes: Chalmers is the definition of speed, agility, and performance. Kind of like a good napkin pirates ship you know? Chalmers is also a defensive machine, leading the hawks in steals, he is by far the ultimate defensive intimidator on defense. Corey Stokes is a freshman but can make the plays that win games. In the last seven games Stokes has scored 10+ points and vs. Siena he pulled in 2o points. My pirate pick is with Chalmers on this one but if the Jayhawks accrue a 10 point lead, then watch out for the fire in Stokes.
Russell Robinson vs. Scottie Reynolds: Robinson is a very athletic asset for the Jayhawks. This pirate is agile, works well under pressure and leads Kansas in assists. While he may not steal the show from night to night, Robinson has started in all Jayhawk games in should win the napkin pirates award for perseverance. He will have a challenge tonight though as Reynolds is the go to guy for Villanova. He is great from the arch as well as inside. This is the only pirate pick where I believe Villanova will have the upper hand. All in All, my prediction for napkin pirates player of the night will either go to Jackson or Rush.

Napkin Pirates, as promised, it has been a crazy night in basketball. Starting with the uneventful, North Carolina walked all over Washington State winnning by 21. The Napkin Pirates bracket called this win but I didn’t think it would be by this much. One of the greatest games tonight has been Xavier vs. West Virginia game. This pirate was getting nervous as it looked to be a victory looming for W.V. OT came soon and Xavier was able to pull off the win. So far this evening they hold the napkin pirates sports network game of the night. My attention was soon onto the Louisville and Tennessee game. This was a joke from the get-go. It was not long until Louisville ran out a double-digit lead. Tennessee did gain steam and pirated ahead close to tieing the game. Louisville once again ran ahead and won with a comfortable 19 point lead. Our fourth game tonight was the matchup between (Napkin Pirates favorite underdog) Western Kentucky against UCLA. The Bruins stepped out early and dominated the first half. An exciting second half ensued as Western Kentucky came out of the gate firing their cannons like pirates on the sea.
Break-in: LIVE Napkin Pirates Sports Network Coverage:
The Hilltoppers have outscored the Bruins in the second half, however, UCLA has made a run and are now winning by eight. 2:12 remains in the second half and while our pirates bracket is voting for UCLA, inside we are pulling for Western Kentucky. 1:25 remains as the scores narrows to six. This does not look good for W.K. With 15 seconds left UCLA leads by 10 points. W.K. is now realizing that their trip ends here tonight. UCLA wins by 10 points.
Well, It has been a great night of basketball. The rest of the pirates and I have decided that the game of the night shall go to Xavier. We have put a lot of faith in this team and believe they will travel to the Final Four. Our NPSN team of the night is the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. This Napkin Pirates Pick gets the gold tonight for playing a hard second half. UCLA is a tough team and especially for 12th seed vs. a 1 seed.
The Official Pirate Bracket survived fairly in tact tonight as we only lost one game. We originally had Tennessee heading to the Final Four down the road this will hurt the bracket. And to think we had them beating North Carolina in the Elite Eight! Xavier was a near loss and trust me, this napkin pirate did not want to have two final four picks losing tonight. Well I guess we have to take our loss and points our sights on tomorrow. I know for all you Jayhawk loving napkin pirates it will be an anxious day on Friday. We will provide pre-game coverage as well as a comprehensive post-game wrap-up.

Well fellow Napkin Pirates, it is Thursday and time for NCAA basketball. Up first we have Xavier vs. West Virginia whose coach just happens to be our white trash friend that coached at K-State. I must say that I will never forget the black tux vest he wore last year at the Braumlage Blackout game. The official Napkin Pirates Inc. bracket has Xavier taking this one. They have a better team, a better fight, and the Pirates have them going to the Final Four. Soon following is Washington State vs. North Carolina. The official Napkin Pirates Inc. bracket calls for an N.C. win. Wouldn’t it be great though to see the “Baby Blue” fall? It just won’t happen though. What Roy wants, Roy gets. Also, Roy, you will never recieve membership into the Napkin Pirates. We don’t like you anymore. Our third game of the night is Western Kentucky vs. UCLA. The old Pirates bracket is calling for a Bruin victory but as of late I think this W.K. is something to fear. Something about them screams George Mason. I like them, who knows, they may become the napkin pirates team of the week. Fourth game of the night will feature Tennesse vs. Louisville. This will be the battle royale. I can not wait to see this cross-state rivalry showdown. The official Napkin Pirates bracket has Tennessee winning this one. I can honestly say I do not know who will take this one home tonight. My gut pirate instinct says Tennesee. On the other hand, I would like to see Louisville advance so Padgett could get a little taste of what he could of had at Kansas. We got a good night ahead of us and it keeps our little pirates minds off of waiting for tommorrow night’s game. To my napkin pirates, enjoy the games, say your Jayhawk prayers tonight and stay tuned NPSN.
[Napkin Pirates] Napkin Pirates Inc. Going Global, Again!
Posted in pirates with tags napkin pirates on March 26, 2008 by napkinpirateThis weekend I went and checked out the new Power & Light district in downtown KC. It was great and all and the other napkin pirates and I commenced to drinking as much rum as possible. During this, I was fortunate enough to run into an old friend from my time overseas. What was not fortunate though was the news that my old Army unit is heading back to Iraq in one month. It was such horrible news and ruined my night since I still have many friends in my old unit. Nearly four years ago when my fellow napkin pirates and I returned from our year long piracy campaign in the Middle East I figured we would focus our napkin pirates crusade on the continental U.S. It seems that Uncle Sam has other plans. By my luck of discharge I will not be returning with the rest of my fellow pirates, however, I will be traveling with them in spirit. I am not sure what their military objective will be this time around but I know that I will be setting an agenda for the napkin pirates once they have landed. Our global napkin pirate presence has been broken for the last four years, now it seems we shall wrap our hands across the world once again. It has long since been a focal point for Napkin Pirates Inc. to expand into commodities such as oil, so that we can pay for the site. Besides killing insurgents, terrorizing civilians, and being Bush’es henchman, I hope that our napkin pirate soldiers will have time to create a solid presence once again. Until we rule the world I wish all our departing napkin pirate soldiers in the 129th the best of luck. Keep your head down and come home safely.

Napkin Pirates, let us celebrate, for we are again headed to the Sweet 16. For those of you who were not stuck to the tube this weekend, you missed out on some great basketball games. Most importantly, our favorite napkin pirates the Jayhawks plundered the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels. I will admit that I was nervous going into the game and after the cold first few minutes. Regradless, the Jayhawks found their heat and gave us a great game. Might I add a big hooray from your fellow napkin pirates.
In other NCAA tourney coverage watched by our pirate correspondents this weekend we must cover the upsets. Michigan St. toppled Pitt, Connecticut lost to San Diego, and Duke, Vanderbilt and Georgetown were defeated. There were other upsets but they were not as surprising as the Georgetown and Connecticut losses. I guess that is why they call it March Madness, anything can happen. I wasn’t surprised by Duke, they have had a real timid showing the last few games and sometimes your school name doesn’t pull the win off for you. Also, I hate Duke and if you wanted to ever become napkin pirates you would be declined membership. Our pirate Jayhawks don’t nearly lose to a 15th seed in the first round and then lose to trashy Huggins in the second. Napkin Pirates, we must digress, sorry I had to get that out of my system. Back to basketball, I was surprised by Georgetown, I thought they would see an Elite Eight invite.
As we now look forward to next weekends games I do have some worries. Even though the official napkin pirates tourney bracket shows Tennessee making the Final Four I am a little worried about them. At their caliber they should have stomped their past two opponents. This was not the case though as they has several pirates on the edge of their seat this weekend. Another look at the offficial napkin pirate bracket reveals that all Elite Eight teams are still in the hunt for the title. While the us pirates did take some bracket hits this weekend it is good to know that the future still looks bright.
As we move forward through the week we now look forward to our favorite napkin pirates playing against Villanova on Friday night at 8:40 (CST). Until then, pirate on, and make sure to pester those Wildcat fans as they sulk over their loss to Wisconsin.
